ANOTHER STARTED!

THE CUMMER
I am working from this photograph at present.  The scene is early spring in the Italian garden at the Cummer Museum in Jacksonville, Florida.  It is a lovely garden on the St. Johns River.  When the azaleas bloomed in April it was breathtaking.

I did sell the early spring version.  Plan to paint it this time with the flowers in bloom and warm spring sky.  I will only show the live oak branches as reflections in the pool.  Stay tuned to see the finished work!
PLEIN AIR IN OUR GARDEN

LITTLE RIVER oil on board

This painting was done last fall plein air.  I had invited my 7 year old neighbor to paint outside with me.  We fed off each other and both loved our paintings that day.  Wish I could show you hers as well.

I did decide to enter this painting in a judged show this month.  Happily, it sold.  Unhappily, I will miss it on my wall.

Ellie and I will be painting together again soon, as the days get a little cooler.  It has been a HOT summer here.

FIRST BLOG!

WOW!  For a person who prefers painting to computing, I must say that I am very excited with the idea of sharing my painting thoughts with you.  I think of this as a diary.  As with all writing, just expressing yourself can bring about new ideas.  As I blog about my painting, I feel sure I will be turning myself on to new endeavors in art or possibly expanding a feeling I want to portray.  If you wish to share in my thought process,  I will be delighted.

The above painting shares my love of coastal low country.  It is a fall/early winter scene.  I worked to show you the warm golden light of autumn in the South while the cool light of winter is nearly there.  I am also saying this is my favorite time for marsh viewing.  The water grasses have all turned straw colors, leaves are different colors.  The "everything is green" of summer is over.  I like the variables.
